Growing Cress

Watercress, Nasturtium officinale, is a living member of the cabbage family. It is a type of aquatic vegetables in a chili taste. You may not have heard much grown, but it is one of the oldest leaf vegetables known to man. And 'the original "super food" because all the important health benefits calledprovides.

If cress growing from seed, is expected to sow the seed in a couple of weeks before last frost. Place a paper towel in a shallow bowl and moisten it. Placeseeds on the towel and about a quarter of an inch of standing water to add.

If the seeds stay moist and warm, they should germinate within a week to ten days. Three weeks after germination, the plants are ready for transplanting outdoors.

You can plant in pots or in the soil until the soil remains moist. Use a mix of wet earth, lime and organic compost for growing watercress.
